Pray for Syria

Jamal & Kareem

Jamal met Kareem 10 years ago, and how could he ever forget him? UnCharted’s Kareem Yashou, who works with the Druze (a split off group from Islam) in SW Syria met a young man who was about to have his leg amputated because of a disease. Kareem has been used by God and many have been healed once he prayed for them. He is humble and puts his head down when asked about how God has used him. He prayed for the young man and he was healed, and his leg was saved.

Last month, Kareem ran into Jamal in Sweida which is in the heart of the Druze area. Jamal took Kareem to meet some people. There were ten large Druze families that wanted to meet Kareem. Kareem asked: “who are these people?”

Jamal told him: “These are the people who have come to Christ after hearing my story of how Jesus healed me!”

Please pray for Jamal, he is a wanted man in the Druze mountains of Syria. But God is using his life and he will not back down from sharing Christ and discipling the new believers. Also pray for Kareem who has been arrested and beaten for his work with the Druze but now there are over 2,000 Druze believers in Syria. Until a few years ago, there was not one known believer among the Druze in Syria.

Elias & Farid

Elias is an Alawite (another split off religion from Islam) and he has never heard one thing about Jesus while living his whole life in NW Syria. Farid Assad visited with a team in Elias’ village last month and met an Alawite man who had several questions as expected. What tripped him up was the concept that God could die on a cross. How does that happen?

When Farid explained the concept of atonement for the sins of the world was covered by Jesus dying on the Cross, Elias yelled: “No no!” Farid thought Elias was violently objecting to the Cross and so he started the discussion over again. But Elias kept going on to explain what he meant: “No no! I do not deserve this. I am a sinful man.”

Elias gave his life to Jesus and so did his wife and family. They are the first in their village to come to faith in Christ!

Farid & His Team

Farid and his team are reaching out to about 600 children for Christmas. 200 are Sunni Muslims. The pictures are from Farid’s city of Homs that is 90% destroyed because of the 7-year war in Syria. Farid and his team have reached a significant number of deaf in Syria and they are pictured below with the UnCharted Leadership.

We thank you for your prayers!

For the King,
