MYANMAR — Five Families Kicked Out of Village in Rakhine State

Maung Cia (middle) and his family were one of five families kicked out of their village after they participated in a worship service.

After being shackled for three days and fined for buying a banana from a Christian vendor, Maung Cia sought out a pastor in a neighboring village.

The pastor shared the gospel with Maung and two of his friends, and they all accepted Christ. Maung then led 10 other villagers to Jesus and invited the pastor to lead a worship service in his village. Midway through the service, Buddhist villagers severely beat the pastor and stoned the worshipers. Village leaders later kicked five families out of the village, and VOM is providing the families with food and housing assistance. “Now as much as I can I’m sharing the good news and I will continue to do so,” Maung said. “Please remember us in your prayers. Thank you for your support and your love. God bless you.”

Pray for the families to remain firm in their faith, and pray that more will come to know Christ.
