BENIN — Rejected Daughter Struggles with Health, Basic Needs

Many Beninese women face rejection for leaving voodoo to follow Christ.
A young woman rejected by her family for becoming a follower of Christ needs prayer for physical healing and an improved living situation.
Michelle’s family are voodoo practitioners. When she refused to participate in rituals, her father rejected her, beat her and said she was no longer his daughter. A college student at the time, she was forced to support herself in a country where most young women are reliant on their family for daily needs. Michelle has completed her studies but has been dealing with ulcers and difficulty finding food. “She is discouraged and feels lonely,” said a front-line worker, who described Michelle as trapped in the situation. “She needs encouragement and a good job.” Like Michelle, many Beninese women have been rejected by their families for becoming followers of Christ.
