Among the religions in Benin, voodoo has the largest number of practitioners. If followers of voodoo leave and place their trust in Christ, voodooists sometimes react violently even after much time has passed. A woman in northern Benin, who has been a Christian for 15 years, suffered this treatment. Her family tried multiple ways to convince her to return to worship their idols. By tradition, she was supposed to lead those rituals but refused. The voodooists believe that as long as she lives, no one else can lead their ceremonies, so they tried to kill her. She is currently hospitalized, and local Christian leaders fear she may not survive. They ask for urgent prayer for her and for all voodooists to repent and turn to Christ.
