NIGERIA — Teens Traumatized by Islamist Violence Attend Camp

Camps provide a safe place for young Nigerian persecution victims to receive inner healing.

Front-line workers recently held a camp for teenagers from several different areas across Nigeria where militant Fulani Muslims and Boko Haram militants have slaughtered thousands of Christians.

Each teen in attendance during the camp had lost one or both parents in Islamist attacks. Some of the young people continue to live in areas where militant attacks are common. “One of the goals of this camp was to get them out of their unpleasant surroundings and into a peaceful setting where they could interact with other kids,” wrote a front-line worker, “and where they can be inspired to grow in their walk with God.” During the eight-day camp, one female camper committed her life to Christ, and several others rededicated their lives to the Lord.
