The aftermath of a burned out home with destroyed food supplies in Plateau state
Fulani Islamic militants killed nine people, including four children, in an April 14 attack on the predominantly Christian village of Hura, in Plateau state.
Survivors said the militants surrounded their village at about 7 p.m., firing weapons and shouting “Allahu akbar!” (god is great!). In addition to killing nine people, the militants burned 21 homes to the ground and damaged seven others. After burying the dead the following day, the surviving villagers walked 10 miles to a neighboring village, fearing further attacks.
