50,000 PARTICIPATED IN 24-HOUR WORLDWIDE PRAYER RELAY FOR ZION CHURCH

An estimated 50,000 people participated in the 24-hour worldwide prayer relay for Zion Church on November 11, including more than ten thousand people inside China. That’s according to Voice of the Martyrs Korea and its USA partner China Aid, who co-hosted the event on Zoom along with China’s Early Rain Ministry and Mayflower Church, two other ministries who have faced significant persecution from the Chinese government.

Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr. Hyun Sook Foley and CEO Pastor Eric Foley hosted the twohour East Asia segment live from 9pm to 11pm, using the time to encourage the Chinese church with news of the release and return home of Korean Chinese Deacon Jang Moon Seok after 12 years of imprisonment in North Korea. The Foleys also taught on “10 Ways to Pray for Persecuted Christians” and introduced a number of Christians from Korea and Australia, who prayed for Zion Church.

Speakers in other time zones included popular American pastors John Piper and Tony Perkins, as well as Missionary Andrew Brunson, who was formerly imprisoned in Turkey, and numerous officials including U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) Chair Vicky Hartzler, former U.S. State Department Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback, and former USCIRF Chair Nadine Maenza.

Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr. Hyun Sook Foley noted that some of the ten thousand attendees inside China who participated in the event via various social media platforms experienced interference from Chinese police.

We received reports from several families and pastors in China whose homes were stormed by police during the prayer relay or who were detained in order to prevent their participation in the event, said Representative Foley. Just minutes after the 24-hour prayer relay began, one of the participants from China was apprehended by police who raided his apartment. In another case, a Chinese pastor was unable to connect to the call because of police being present at his home, but he said he used the time well by evangelizing the police for three hours.

China Aid CEO Bob Fu said, “The amazing power of prayer triggers the fear of the oppressors.  Glory to the Lord God Almighty.”

The 24-hour prayer relay on November 11 was held in support of China’s Zion Churchwhose senior pastor, the Korean-Chinese Ezra Jin, was arrested along with 29 other Zion Church leaders in early October 2025 in the largest one-day crackdown in history on a single Chinese house church.

They were all transferred to Beihai, Guangxi for detention. The authorities are charging church leaders with non-religious legal charges such as “illegal use of information networks” and possibly “illegal business operations” and “fraud”.

A recording of the 24-hour prayer relay is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OjcTIWtc0Y&t=18063s, with the Voice of the Martyrs Korea-hosted segment beginning at the 3:59:00 mark on the video.
