CHINA: CHRISTIAN DETAINED 10 DAYS FOR STREET EVANGELISM

Earlier this month Voice of the Martyrs Korea reported the removal of two church crosses in Wenzhou, China. But this week Voice of the Martyrs Korea is reporting a different kind of cross removal in that communist country.

According to Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr. Hyun Sook Foley, authorities in Hengyang, Hunan Province sentenced a street evangelist to 10 days in administrative detention for “illegal evangelism” on August 3.

The evangelist, Chen Wensheng, was seen sharing his Christian faith on a street in Hengyang before being taken into custody. He also displayed a wooden cross that had “Glory to our Savior” and “Repent and be saved by faith alone” written on it.

The cross was confiscated at the police station.

At the police station, Evangelist Chen urged police officers to believe in Jesus.

The videos below include footage of Chen’s street evangelism booth and of him sharing his faith with police officers.
