Islamists have killed or kidnapped thousands and displaced millions of people in the northeastern part of Nigeria in recent years. The Christian Association of Nigeria reported that on May 9, 2023, 20 Christians were abducted during a church service and haven’t been heard from since. “Nigeria has one of the highest rates of kidnapping in the world,” a front-line worker said.
