December 9th marked the sixth anniversary of Chinese Pastor Wang Yi’s arrest.
Pastor Wang Yi was the pastor of Chengdu’s Early Rain Covenant Church and on December 9th, 2018, he and about 150 church leaders and seminary students were arrested. By the end of the week, they were released, but Pastor Wang Yi remained imprisoned and was found guilty of “instigating subversion of state power” and “illegal business management” and was sentenced to nine years in prison. Over the past six years, the Chinese government has continued to harass, detain, imprison and persecute Early Rain Covenant Church members and church leaders.
Please pray for God to sustain Pastor Wang Yi in prison and pray that the members of the Early Rain Covenant Church will continue to make a faithful witness despite persecution.
