Churches have been destroyed and replaced with Buddhist temples. Christians have been expelled from their homes. Humanitarian aid has been cut off. &#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:p|font_size:1.2em|text_align:left&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;font_family:Noto%20Sans%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal&#8221; el_class=&#8221;headline&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to Uppsala University\u2019s Conflict data program, China has a history of sending more funds to the United Wa State Party than to Myanmar\u2019s official national government itself. This, in addition to the close proximity of recent persecution to the Myanmar-Chinese border and China\u2019s continued opposition to the UN examining cases such as the Kachin and the Rohingya Muslims causes several sources\u2014including Christian Solidary Worldwide\u2014to suspect that the Chinese are encouraging and funding this persecution. NGO China Aid reports that the Wa State Army\u2019s persecution of Christians began shortly after an American pastor who had been establishing schools in the area, John Cao, was arrested.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7999&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 9px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>North Carolina pastor\u00a0 John Cao (Photo: ChinaAid)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row overlay_dotted=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhether or not China supports the persecution of the Kachin, it is happening,\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Voice of the Martyrs representative Hyun Sook Foley says. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe question is not, \u2018Who is persecuting the Kachin,\u2019 but instead \u2018What are Christians around the world doing in response to their suffering?\u2019\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">Representative Foley explains that many Kachin feel as if the church around the world has forgotten them. Global Christian media frequently report on the condition of Myanmar\u2019s Rohingya Muslims, but few are reporting on the current persecution of the Kachin people.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7993&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0Further, she says that the Kachin situation is a reminder to Christians around the world that changing a government often doesn\u2019t mean an improvement in the situation for persecuted Christians.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row overlay_dotted=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She adds, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cOur experience with persecuted Christians is that they do not rely on the political process to bring change to their lives. Instead, they rely on God for that and pray for whoever their leaders are to come to know Christ.
