For more than ten years, Christians around the world have set aside the first Sunday in November to pray for believers in more than 70 countries who are persecuted for their faith. This year, Voice of the Martyrs Korea representative, Hyun Sook Foley is calling specifically on Korean Christians to join the global prayer effort.&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:p|font_size:1.2em|text_align:left&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;font_family:Noto%20Sans%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal&#8221; el_class=&#8221;headline&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7917&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\" style=\"font-size: 12px; font-family: helvetica;\">Eritrean widower with the four sons he is raising alone<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHebrews 13:3 tells us that every day should be a day of prayer for the persecuted church,\u201d <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">VOMK representative Foley explains. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBut the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church serves as a poignant reminder of this command and an opportunity for the Christian community to unite globally to \u2018remember those in prison as if [we] were in prison with them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row overlay_dotted=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span class=\"s1\">Since Voice of the Martyrs Korea has served the persecuted church around the world for more than 15 years, representative Foley has built hundreds of personal relationships with persecuted Christians, from Asia to the Middle East to Africa. Wherever she travels, representative Foley explains, the first thing persecuted Christians ask for is not just prayer, but a very specific prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhen we pray for the persecuted church, it is always tempting to pray that they will not suffer or that the government will change and they will be free to worship. But this isn\u2019t their prayer request,\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">representative Foley says. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Their prayer request is, \u2018Pray that we\u2019ll be faithful to Christ no matter the cost.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Representative Foley points out that the Korean church has a special obligation to pray on this day due to its close proximity to some of the world\u2019s fiercest persecutors of Christians\u2014China and North Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWe aren\u2019t just in close proximity with these countries,\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Representative Foley adds. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe Korean church extends into both of these countries, so we truly are a common family with those who are being persecuted. His wife was arrested during worship and sent to prison. She died as a result of torture and poor prison conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> \u201cI am happy that my wife was a hero Christian, that she died for Christ,\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6824&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Chinese Christians are facing increasing persecution from the government. Recently 344 Chinese pastors signed a petition against this persecution and the government responded by interrogating signees. One signee said,<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> \u201cI hope Christians all over the world will pray hard for us.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7922&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">North Korean sex-trafficked women hold hands and pray together.
