[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Voice of the Martyrs Korea representative Hyun Sook Foley explains this sort of sentiment is normal for the Chinese government\u00a0but has escalated to a new level since new laws restricting religious activity went into effect in February.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSince last year there has been an aggressive campaign to root out Korean Christians ministering in China,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

representative Foley says.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this trend has\u00a0accelerated\u00a0this year, with special emphasis this summer on eliminating Korean Christian missionary influence in China.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]VOM Korea and its China partner China Aid continue to receive\u00a0reports from\u00a0churches being shut down, Christians being arrested (and assaulted), and church leaders being arrested on false charges.\u00a0These types of governmental restrictions are\u00a0encouraged in the\u00a0confidential\u00a0orders\u00a0discovered by VOM Korea and China Aid. According to\u00a0Board Chair\u00a0Foley, both the Chinese churches\u00a0and Korean missionaries are being restricted by the Chinese government out of fear.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe document\u00a0attempts to\u00a0link Chinese Christians and Korean missionaries with espionage and anti-government activity,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Representative Foley explains.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Chinese government is putting tighter restraints on both groups in an attempt to alleviate any possible danger by controlling them.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Because of the increasing pressure, many\u00a0Korean Christians may be tempted to cut ties with the Chinese church.\u00a0But Representative Foley\u00a0says that maintaining connections with the Chinese church must remain a top priority for Korean Christians.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe church is one body,\u00a0so\u00a0it is important for us to stay connected with the Chinese church,\u00a0even if that entails a joint suffering on behalf of both churches,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
