Three people were injured, including one who suffered a serious abdominal wound. ” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:1.2em|text_align:left|color:%23111111″ google_fonts=”font_family:Noto%20Sans%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal” css=”” el_class=”headline”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cChristmas is a time of celebration for Christians everywhere, but in countries where Christians are persecuted, it is an especially dangerous day,\u201d says Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr<\/span>.<\/span> Hyun Sook Foley. She says <\/span>that\u2019s<\/span> why when the Christians were attacked in Pakistan on Christmas day last year, one of the ways her organization responded was by providing the families of persecuted Christians with Christmas care packs. These packs included food and, most importantly, Bibles for both adults and children.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cDespite the difficulties and painful Christmas memories for many Christians in Pakistan, the care packs reminded Pakistani Christians that they have family in Christ, from all around the world who remembered them,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cOne of the Christians who helped distribute the packs said, \u2018For many children it was the first time in their lives they saw a children\u2019s Bible.\u2019 They were so grateful and thanking God for sending these gifts.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]According to Representative Foley, <\/span>Voice of the Martyrs Korea<\/span>\u2019s Christmas Care Package distribution to persecuted Christian children is one of the organization\u2019s <\/span>most logistically complex operations<\/span> but also one of its most important.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cMany churches and Christian groups do large scale distributions of Christmas gifts to various needy people, but the Voice of the Martyrs Korea Christmas Care Package distribution is different,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cWe arrange to get Christmas gifts to the front lines of Christian persecution, to give to Christian children whose families are suffering for their faith.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”56362″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=””][vc_custom_heading text=”Voice of the Martyrs Korea will be sending Christmas Care Packages to Christian children in Burkina Faso, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Jordan, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nigeria and the West Bank, where families are facing persecution due to their faith” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:13px|text_align:center|color:%230a0101|line_height:1.45em” css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says last year Voice of the Martyrs\u2019 Korea\u2019s supporters made it possible to send <\/span>500 Christmas Care Packages to children of persecuted Christian families in ten different areas: Burkina Faso, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Jordan, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Myanmar, <\/span>Nigeria<\/span> and the West Bank. She says Voice of the <\/span>Martyrs<\/span> Korea hopes to send the same number of packages or more to children in those same areas.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cEvery package requires a miraculous delivery, because this is a dangerous operation,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cEvery package really is an answer to the prayers of a Christian child or <\/span>family that is struggling because of their faith.\u201d She adds that some of the packages are used by the Christians to do outreach events to their non-Christian neighbors, many of whom are hostile to Christianity.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley recalls the story of one of the Christmas care package <\/span>distributions, to a region in Nepal where <\/span>a woman named Rachana<\/span> lived<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cRachana had been married to <\/span>Chepang<\/span>, a Hindu man,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cAfter Rachana became a Christian, <\/span>Chepang<\/span> was enraged and opposed Rachana\u2019s fellowship with other believers. Rachana, however, honored Christ at the cost of approval and acceptance from <\/span>Chepang<\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says that after some time, <\/span>Rachana<\/span> and <\/span>Chepang\u2019s<\/span> two children also came to know the Lord, and <\/span>Chepang<\/span> eventually left Rachana and the children, <\/span>relocating<\/span> to another area and marrying another woman.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cWithout the financial support of her husband, Rachana was forced to work as a day laborer,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cWhen there was no work available, she would collect firewood to sell.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says that sometime later, <\/span>Chepang<\/span> returned to the village, wanting revenge for Rachana\u2019s \u2018betrayal<\/span>\u2019.<\/span> Taking gas with him, he came to his former home in the middle of the night, doused Rachana with gas, and set her on fire. Rachana survived, and <\/span>Chepang<\/span> was arrested and is now in prison for attempted murder.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cAfter three weeks in hospital, Rachana began to heal,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cIn God\u2019s healing care, she has since fully recovered!\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says that with the encouragement and counsel of their pastor, Rachana has been able to emotionally heal and now visits her husband once a week in prison <\/span>to <\/span>bring him food, while her son talks to his father on the phone, and <\/span>both children <\/span>visit from time to time.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cVoice of the Martyrs assisted <\/span>Rachana by <\/span>rebuilding her home and <\/span>providing for the education of her children so that they will be able to pursue careers that will benefit the family<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>. <\/span>\u201cWe also distributed Christmas care packages to the children in Rachana\u2019s area<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>I<\/span>t snowed <\/span>so <\/span>heavily<\/span> on the day of the distribution that <\/span>some children <\/span>weren\u2019t<\/span> able to attend. <\/span>But we saved a pack for each child who couldn\u2019t attend and gave it to them at a later date.<\/span> It was a powerful reminder to the Christians that they had not been forgotten, and that neither persecution nor even the weather could stop God\u2019s care for them.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Each <\/span>of the Nepal Christmas Care <\/span>pack<\/span>ages<\/span> contained<\/span> toys, stationary items, hygiene items, warm <\/span>clothes<\/span> and a children\u2019s Bible.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201c<\/span>Because it is so cold in the region, the children were thrilled with the warm clothes<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>. <\/span>\u201cMany <\/span>of the children told us that they had never seen toys or stationary items before in their lives.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says th<\/span>e contents for each Christmas Care <\/span>P<\/span>ackage are sourced locally, with the contents tailored to the needs and preferences of local believers<\/span>. Th<\/span>is year\u2019s packs will be<\/span> distributed <\/span>in late <\/span>December <\/span>and early 202<\/span>6<\/span> by VOM frontline workers<\/span>, who <\/span>identify<\/span> children eligible to receive the gifts<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says that a donation of <\/span>4<\/span>5,000 KRW <\/span>can send one <\/span>Christmas Care <\/span>P<\/span>ackage<\/span>.
