According to persecution ministry Voice of the Martyrs Korea, this year there will be a special prayer focus on the Democratic Republic of Congo where more than a hundred Christians were killed and several hundred kidnapped in an attack on September 8. The organization has made a free video and PowerPoint slides available on its website for churches and small groups to use in commemoration of the event.” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:1.2em|text_align:left|color:%23111111″ google_fonts=”font_family:Noto%20Sans%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal” css=”” el_class=”headline”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Voice of the Martyrs Korea<\/span> Representative Dr<\/span>.<\/span> Hyun Sook Foley says that <\/span>the <\/span>International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church<\/span> (IDOP) <\/span>has been <\/span>observed<\/span> annually <\/span>on the first and second Sundays of <\/span>November<\/span> each year<\/span> since being <\/span>established<\/span> more than 20 years ago by <\/span>the World Evangelical Association<\/span>.<\/span> She says <\/span>Congo was <\/span>chosen as the focus for this <\/span>year\u2019s<\/span> global prayer event long before the <\/span>bloody <\/span>September 8 attack <\/span>on churches <\/span>by the IS-affiliated <\/span><\/span>Allied Democratic Forces\u202f<\/span>(ADF). She sees the <\/span>focus on C<\/span>o<\/span>ngo as a sign of God<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s provision for prayers for Congolese Christians at a time of great need for the church there.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>The attack came during a funeral,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> says Representative Foley. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Christians there are still deeply traumatized as they remember what they saw: 26 of the C<\/span>h<\/span>ristians were shot at the funeral. Others were shot in the surrounding area. Houses and vehicles were set on fire. Sadly, even a month after the event, few Christians around the world have heard about it.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
