[vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”54625″ img_size=”full” css=””][vc_custom_heading text=”A young Christian husband and father who was dragged from his home and violently stabbed to death by his neighbors in an all-Hindu village in India in 2020 is this year\u2019s Voice of the Martyrs Korea International Martyrs Day honoree. ” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:1.2em|text_align:left|color:%23111111″ google_fonts=”font_family:Noto%20Sans%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal” css=”” el_class=”headline”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The ministry<\/span> honor<\/span>ed<\/span> martyred <\/span>Indian Christian <\/span>Kande <\/span>Mudu<\/span> with <\/span>a plaque <\/span>on its Martyrs Timeline <\/span>this week <\/span>and <\/span>released <\/span>a <\/span>video <\/span>about Kande <\/span>Mudu<\/span> and other Christian martyrs in India <\/span>to commemorate this year\u2019s <\/span>International Martyrs Day<\/span>. <\/span>The video<\/span>, which is available for use by churches<\/span>, small <\/span>groups<\/span>,<\/span> and families,<\/span> is available at <\/span><\/span>www.vomkorea.com\/<\/span>en\/<\/span>dotcm<\/span><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\u201cAccording to church tradition, June 29 marks the martyrdom of the Apostle Paul, so Christians around the world take time th<\/span>is<\/span> week to honor the legacy of those who have sacrificed their lives for the advancement of the gospel<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> sa<\/span>id<\/span> Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr<\/span>.<\/span> Hyun Sook Foley.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley sa<\/span>id<\/span> that this year her organization <\/span>is honoring <\/span>Indian Christian <\/span>Kande <\/span>Mudu<\/span>, <\/span>who was martyred in <\/span>a small village in India<\/span> on <\/span>J<\/span>une 7, 2020<\/span>.<\/span> (The specific <\/span>village <\/span>name is withheld for the <\/span>safety<\/span> of <\/span>Mr.<\/span> Mudu\u2019s<\/span> surviving family members.)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”54632″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=””][vc_custom_heading text=”2025 International Martyrs Day honoree Kande Mudu.” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:13px|text_align:center|color:%230a0101|line_height:1.45em” css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\u201c<\/span>Kande and his wife Bindi were the first \u2013 and only \u2013 Christians in their Hindu village<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201c<\/span>Kande\u2019s active faith bothered the local leaders<\/span>,<\/span> and they <\/span>demanded that he <\/span>renounce his faith at a community meeting. Instead, Kande <\/span>proclaimed the gospel to them<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]According to Representative Foley, in the days following the community meeting, <\/span>Kande, his wife<\/span>,<\/span> and his two daughters were harassed and began to receive death threats.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

\u201cO<\/span>n the evening of June 7, 2020, after family worship, someone knocked loudly on their door. When Kande looked outside, he saw a group of armed men<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cKande told his wife, \u2018<\/span>If God is willing to take away my life, it is His will<\/span>. <\/span>If God wants to save me, He will save me. No matter what happens to me, you should not give up your faith in Jesus. In difficulties, you must continue to follow Jesus.<\/span>\u2019 He told her, \u2018<\/span>Our Lord is able to provide for you even if my life is taken away.<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says that m<\/span>oments later, one of the <\/span>armed <\/span>men broke down the door and dragged <\/span>Mr. <\/span>Mudu<\/span> out of the house. The next morning, <\/span>Mr. <\/span>Mudu\u2019s<\/span> body was found on the side of the road leading to his church.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”54626″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=””][vc_custom_heading text=”Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr. Hyun Sook Foley and CEO Pastor Eric Foley unveil a new plaque on the Martyrs Timeline honoring Kande Mudu from India.” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:13px|text_align:center|color:%230a0101|line_height:1.45em” css=””][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”54627″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=””][vc_custom_heading text=”A portion of the VOM Korea Martyrs Timeline, which displays the new plaque honoring Kande Mudu from India. ” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:13px|text_align:center|color:%230a0101|line_height:1.45em” css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\u201c<\/span>His death was so violent that his body was barely recognizable<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Mr. <\/span>Mudu\u2019s<\/span> wife, Bindi, told Voice of the Martyrs that i<\/span>n the months following the attack, <\/span>she remembered that her husband had told her,<\/span> \u201cI will live for Jesus or die for Jesus, but I will never turn back.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says that although the <\/span>Mudus<\/span>\u2019 story is violent, the Voice of the Martyrs\u2019 video<\/span>s<\/span> about Mr. <\/span>Mudu\u2019s<\/span> martyrdom <\/span>and the martyrdoms of other Christians have been made so that they are <\/span>suitable for viewing by all ages.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Kande and his family were the first Christians in their Hindu village and faithfully proclaimed the gospel to their neighbors<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cThe video shows how Kande is part of the line of faithful witnesses to the Lord Jesus <\/span>in India <\/span>that goes back to the <\/span>apostles themselves. Every Christian needs to watch this video not just to learn this amazing history, but also to be inspired to be faithful witnesses for the Lord wherever they are today, no matter how difficult it may seem.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]A<\/span>ccording to <\/span>Representative Foley, International Martyrs Day is a<\/span>n <\/span>opportunity for churches around the world to learn about Christian<\/span>s facing martyrdom today, particularly in the more than 70 countries where there are restrictions on the practice of the Christian faith<\/span>. <\/span>She sa<\/span>id<\/span> Voice of the Martyrs Korea <\/span>tries to highlight a martyr from a different country or region on International Martyrs Day e<\/span>ach<\/span> year so that Christians can better understand the extent and types of persecution currently being faced by <\/span>other <\/span>Christians around the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]In recent <\/span>years<\/span> the ministry has honored martyrs from Central Asia, China, Colombia, and Africa.
