\u201cThese evangelists in rural Vietnam are experiencing exactly the kinds of things Jesus prophesied in Mark 10:29-30,\u201d says Representative Foley, whose organization partners with its sister mission, Voice of the Martyrs Australia, to provide <\/span>emergency physical, spiritual, and financial support<\/span> to persecuted Christians in Vietnam. \u201c<\/span>They\u2019re having to give up their houses, lands, families, and even their health in order to hold on to Jesus.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cBelievers regularly face threats like<\/span> expulsion from their villages, confiscation or destruction of property, and physical violence<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>They\u2019re<\/span> prevented from supporting themselves, and <\/span>t<\/span>hey\u2019re<\/span> excluded from <\/span>social benefits <\/span>and government <\/span>aid programs<\/span>.<\/span> Then <\/span>they\u2019re<\/span> told by authorities, \u2018All these problems will go away if you just renounce your faith\u2019.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Representative Foley says that last month a team of six <\/span>local <\/span>evangelists <\/span>were <\/span>travel<\/span>ing<\/span> to a nearby province to share the gospel<\/span>. W<\/span>hile on the road they were stopped by police and detained for questioning. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>They <\/span>were <\/span>interrogat<\/span>ed<\/span> and beat<\/span>en, and <\/span>one of the <\/span>evangelists <\/span>suffered a broken finger as a result<\/span>,\u201d she says<\/span>. Five of the<\/span> evangelists <\/span>have now returned home to their families<\/span>, while one <\/span>remains<\/span> in custody. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>His family ha<\/span>s <\/span>attempted to visit him, but the<\/span>ir requests were denied<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”53751″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css=””][vc_custom_heading text=”A field in rural Vietnam.\u00a0” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:13px|text_align:center|color:%230a0101|line_height:1.45em” css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Another local evangelist, <\/span>Brother A<\/span> (named withheld for security reasons) <\/span>has been banned by local authorities from <\/span>transporting or selling his crops on public roads<\/span>, as a punishment for holding <\/span>church gatherings at his home. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>As a result<\/span>, his crops <\/span>all <\/span>rotted,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> says Representative Foley. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>He lost his entire investment in his farming business<\/span>, <\/span>which left his family <\/span>without <\/span>money for <\/span>food.<\/span>\u201d<\/span> She says a<\/span>uthorities <\/span>also <\/span>damaged his motorbike<\/span>, but they promised <\/span>his troubles would cease if he renounce<\/span>d<\/span> his faith.<\/span> \u201c<\/span>He refuses to deny Christ or give up his ministry,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> says Representative Foley.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Land confiscation <\/span>or destruction <\/span>is a common tactic used by authorities to <\/span>intimidate<\/span> the evangelists, according to Representative Foley.
