\u201cLast <\/span>year our VOMK supporters made it possible for us to <\/span>sen<\/span>d<\/span> more than <\/span>850<\/span> Christmas Care Packages to children of Christian<\/span> families facing persecution <\/span>in<\/span> eleven different countries in Africa, the Middle East, and south and southeast Asia<\/span>,\u201d says Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr<\/span>.<\/span> Hyun Sook Foley<\/span>. <\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span>This year <\/span>there are urgent needs in <\/span>Burkina Faso,<\/span> Cameroon<\/span>, <\/span>Egypt<\/span>, Ethiopia, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine<\/span>, <\/span>and <\/span>the Philippines<\/span>, so we are focusing our 2024 Christmas Care Package distribution efforts on children there<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Representative Foley says th<\/span>e contents for each Christmas Care Package are sourced locally, with the contents tailored to the needs and preferences of local believers<\/span>. The <\/span>packs are <\/span>then <\/span>distributed <\/span>in late <\/span>December <\/span>and early 202<\/span>5<\/span> by VOM frontline workers<\/span>, who also <\/span>identify<\/span> children eligible to receive the gifts<\/span>.<\/span> Representative Foley says that in some <\/span>of the <\/span>countries a small number of the <\/span>packages are used by local believers and VOM frontline workers for outreach events <\/span>reaching non-Christian children.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”51998″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Representative Foley says that a donation of <\/span>4<\/span>5,000 KRW <\/span>can send one <\/span>Christmas Care Package<\/span>. Donations <\/span>for the Christmas Care Package program <\/span>must be received no later than <\/span>December <\/span>31.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Representative Foley <\/span>says that Voice of the Martyrs Korea cooperates with its Voice of the Martyrs sister missions around the world <\/span>in order to<\/span> ensure <\/span>that the packages reach the children of Christians who are facing persecution. <\/span>She provided <\/span>updates and <\/span>testimonies from <\/span>the <\/span>countries <\/span>wh<\/span>ere <\/span>Christmas Care Packages <\/span>were distributed last year<\/span>:<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Burkina Faso<\/span><\/span><\/strong>: <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Radical Islamists have now pushed more than <\/span>2 million people<\/span> out of their homes, which makes Burkina Faso <\/span>currently <\/span>the worst refugee crisis in the world,\u201d says Representative Foley. She says Protestant Christian families are particularly hard hit because of their extreme minority status. \u201cProtestants make up only 6% of the population in Burkina Faso, so finding places where they are welcome <\/span>to resettle can be<\/span> hard.<\/span>\u201d She says VOM Korea worked with other VOM missions <\/span>to provide <\/span>a total of 2,405 <\/span>Christmas Care Packages <\/span>to <\/span>22 churches across the country who are caring for displaced Christian families<\/span>.<\/span> \u201cSadly, as<\/span> the situation <\/span>has <\/span>worsen<\/span>ed<\/span>, the <\/span>government\u2019s<\/span> and other charities\u2019 help almost disappeared, leaving displaced <\/span>Christian children<\/span> alone. <\/span>The <\/span>Christians <\/span>there <\/span>prayed to God for help, and when the local team arrived with <\/span>our <\/span>packages, <\/span>everyone was <\/span>amazed by God\u2019s intervention<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”51994″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_custom_heading text=”Last year, children of persecuted Christians in Burkina Faso received a Christmas Care pack containing a Bible, food items, school supplies and water.” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:13px|text_align:center|color:%230a0101|line_height:1.45em”][vc_column_text]Ethiopia<\/span><\/span><\/strong>: <\/span>The after-effects of civil war in the northern part of the country continue to be felt<\/span> especially among children,<\/span> according to Representative Foley. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>One boy who received a Christmas Care Package from us last year said, \u2018My Father has died because of the war but your Christmas gift showed me that I have a father<\/span>\u2019<\/span>.<\/span> The need there among Christians continues to be staggering, so the Christmas Care Package contents that local believers requested for their children this year are staple food items, as well as stationery for their <\/span>schoolwork<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]India<\/span><\/span><\/strong>: \u201c<\/span>The Christmas Care Package program allows us to do very targeted, small-scale distribution to Christian children in places where the persecution is very localized but severe, and the numbers are often too few or the areas too remote for major Christian humanitarian aid agencies <\/span>or churches <\/span>to address,\u201d says Representative Foley. She gives as an example India, where <\/span>g<\/span>ifts of a Bible storybook, school bag, water bottle, rice, stationery, <\/span>biscuits<\/span> and chocolates were provided to 150 children of persecuted Christian families in four rural villages. \u201cThe pastors caring for these families are persecuted by local Hindus and Muslims,\u201d says Representative Foley.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Representative Foley says that the number of Christmas Care Packages the ministry sends will depend on the total amount of donations it receives.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
