\u201cPastor Wu and his wife remain strong in the Lord but request prayer for their family,\u201d says Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr<\/span>.<\/span> Hyun Sook Foley. \u201cWhen Pastor Wu was detained for 14 days in September, he said he was thankful that at the detention center he had access to water and electricity, since utilities at his own home had been cut <\/span>off for about a month at that time.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”51832″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Representative Foley says that such utility cuts which <\/span>ultimately force<\/span> relocation have been common for Early Rain church leaders since Chinese authorities began their <\/span>crackdown on <\/span>the church on <\/span>December 9, <\/span>2018,<\/span> with the arrest of its senior pastor Wang Yi and more than 100 church members in Chengdu.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Another <\/span>water and electricity cut-off occurred <\/span>at Pastor Wu\u2019s home <\/span>just before the National Day holiday <\/span>in China <\/span>on October 1.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201cThen o<\/span>n the afternoon of October 16, Pastor Wu <\/span>Wuqing<\/span> discovered that his home\u2019s water supply had <\/span>again been <\/span>cut off<\/span> suddenly,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Upon inspection, he found that the water valve controlling his home\u2019s water meter had been turned off. Pastor Wu opened the valve, and the water supply returned to normal.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]She adds that a<\/span>t around 9 AM on October 17, his home suddenly lost electricity.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>When he checked the floor\u2019s power supply room, he found that the power switch had been manually disconnected<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>After resetting the switch, the power supply returned to normal. <\/span>Then a<\/span>round noon, the electricity <\/span>was <\/span>cut off again. <\/span>So<\/span> Pastor Wu went to check the power supply room once more and found that wires had been cut. <\/span>He saw t<\/span>wo <\/span>people <\/span>hurriedly leaving the room<\/span>, so he <\/span>took photos and called the <\/span>police.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201c<\/span>Pastor Wu asked the church brothers and sisters to pray for his family, asking God to help them overcome this new forced relocation attempt and to remove any anger from their hearts, facing those who persecute them with Christ\u2019s gentleness<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>He said,<\/span> \u2018<\/span>When you pray for our family, you are acknowledging that we are suffering for the sake of our faith, and you are suffering with us! May God have mercy on us and graciously help us!<\/span>\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Representative Foley notes that Pastor Wu is facing these personal difficulties while also pastoring one of the most actively persecuted churches in the world.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine trying to prepare sermons while you are also trying to track down who turned off your <\/span>electricity or<\/span> trying to get ready for church services when there is no running water at your house,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cYet even in these circumstances Pastor Wu <\/span>remains<\/span> joyful and <\/span>determined to serve the Lord no matter what the cost. <\/span>He and his wife and the whole Early Rain congregation are <\/span>living examples of what the New Testament writers called the \u2018patient endurance\u2019 that is required for those who <\/span>seek<\/span> to follow Christ.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
