\u201cIn Hebrews 13:3, we are commanded to remember those who are imprisoned because of their faithful witness to the Lord Jesus,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cWe may not be able to visit them in the foreign prisons where they are held, but now with international mail service returning to normal, we can certainly write them a letter letting them know we are praying for them and that we did not forget about them during COVID.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Among the <\/span><\/span>1<\/span>3<\/span><\/span> prisoners are <\/span>Chinese Pastors Wang Yi and John Cao, several pastors and church leaders from Eritrea, <\/span>a <\/span>Russian believer <\/span>sentenced to <\/span>two years <\/span>in prison for alleged acts against <\/span>police who were demolishing his church building<\/span>, and Korean Chinese Deacon Jang Moon Seok, <\/span>who is <\/span>currently <\/span>serving a 15<\/span>–<\/span> year sentence <\/span>in North Korea <\/span>for his ministry to North Korean<\/span>s visiting Changbai, China.<\/span> The site also contains <\/span>updates on <\/span><\/span>four<\/span><\/span> prisoners who have been part of the organization\u2019s letter writing campaign who have now been released.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>In some of these countries, international mail service <\/span>was<\/span> temporarily halted due to <\/span>COVID<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cBut <\/span>now the mail is moving again, and we have been able to send letters to all the prisoners listed.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She <\/span>cites <\/span>Voice of the Martyrs Korea<\/span>\u2019s <\/span>first <\/span>\u201cprisoner alert\u201d letter writing campaign<\/span> in 2002<\/span>, for a North Korean defector imprisoned in China <\/span>who was <\/span>threatened with repatriation to North Korea. <\/span>Early in his imprisonment, <\/span>that prisoner, identified <\/span>for safety as \u201cMr. <\/span>Kim<\/span>\u201d, <\/span>started receiving letters from concerned Christians <\/span>from around the world <\/span>every two months<\/span>, due to Voice of the Martyrs Korea\u2019s \u201cprisoner alert\u201d campaign<\/span>. \u201cMr<\/span>.<\/span> Kim said the letters <\/span>g<\/span>ave<\/span> him encouragement and a sense of fellowship with the global church during his 10 year-sentence<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cMiraculously, he was not sent back to North Korea.
