[vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”43842″ img_size=”full”][vc_custom_heading text=”Two boys in a rural village in Vietnam, 16-year old Giang* and 15-year old Huy*, were beaten and disowned by their families as the result of their decisions to follow Christ at the invitation of a local evangelist supported by Voice of the Martyrs. ” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:1.2em|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Noto%20Sans%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal” el_class=”headline”][vc_column_text]One year ago, <\/span>Evangelist <\/span>Thao*<\/span> traveled to the boys\u2019 village to share the <\/span>g<\/span>ospel. <\/span>According to Voice of the Martyrs Korea Representative Dr<\/span>.<\/span> Hyun Sook Foley, Evangelist <\/span>Thao met <\/span>Giang<\/span> and <\/span>Huy<\/span> and led them to Christ.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Giang\u2019s<\/span> parents beat him several times in the <\/span>hope that he would renounce his new faith,<\/span>\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201c<\/span>But<\/span> Giang<\/span> remained committed to Christ. So his <\/span>parents chased him out of the house and forbade him from returning.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]According to Representative Foley, <\/span>Giang<\/span> then built a <\/span>small hut to <\/span>live in and began to <\/span>care <\/span>for<\/span> himself.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\u201c<\/span>Upon hearing this story, Pastor <\/span>Makaio<\/span>*, another <\/span>VOM-supported <\/span>pastor in Vietnam, went and brought <\/span>Giang<\/span> home to live with his own family<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]15-year-old<\/span> Huy<\/span> was <\/span>liv<\/span>ing<\/span> with his grandparents<\/span> before he became a Christian<\/span>. <\/span>According to Representative Foley, <\/span>Huy\u2019s<\/span> grandfather practi<\/span>c<\/span>ed witchcraft, and <\/span>Huy<\/span> was frequently <\/span>harassed and beaten by his two uncles <\/span>after<\/span> accepting Christ. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Huy\u2019s<\/span> family burnt all of his belongings, including his clothes, books and notebooks<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>. Recently, <\/span>Huy<\/span> was forced to leave home and was also taken in by Pastor <\/span>Makaio\u2019s<\/span> family.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Thanks to <\/span>Voice of the Martyrs <\/span>supporters, Pastor <\/span>Makaio<\/span> was able to buy <\/span>bicycles, clothes, and other necessities for the two boys<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”43840″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_custom_heading text=”Giang (left) and Huy (right) after being taken in by Pastor Makaio.” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:13px|text_align:center|color:%230a0a0a|line_height:1.45em” google_fonts=”font_family:Noto%20Sans%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]According to Representative Foley, <\/span>Pastor <\/span>Makaio<\/span> went to speak with <\/span>Giang<\/span> and <\/span>Huy\u2019s<\/span> families, hoping they would consider taking the boys back. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Thankfully, <\/span>Huy\u2019s<\/span> grandparents <\/span>have <\/span>agreed to allow him to return home on the condition that he demonstrate<\/span>s<\/span> to them that Christianity is a good religion<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>They <\/span>said <\/span>that until now, they have only ever heard bad things about Christianity, but that they will consider following Christ if they see good things coming from <\/span>Huy\u2019s<\/span> decision.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]She added, \u201c<\/span>Unfortunately, <\/span>Giang\u2019s<\/span> parents rejected Pastor <\/span>Makaio\u2019s<\/span> request. They have refused to allow their son to return unless he agrees to stop following Christ<\/span>. They<\/span> also told Pastor <\/span>Makaio<\/span> that they will hold him responsible<\/span> if <\/span>Giang<\/span> becomes a bad person.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]According to Representative Foley, <\/span>Pastor <\/span>Makaio<\/span> has arranged for <\/span>Giang<\/span> to live with <\/span>a church member whose home is close enough to <\/span>Giang\u2019s<\/span> school to enable him to keep attending there<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Voice of the Martyrs Korea is asking for <\/span>special <\/span>prayers for the<\/span> boys, their families, and the VOM-sponsored local workers in Vietnam<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Pray for <\/span>Huy\u2019s<\/span> grandparents, who are open to following Christ if they see positive change in <\/span>Huy\u2019s<\/span> life<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span>.<\/span> \u201c<\/span>Pray for <\/span>Giang\u2019s<\/span> parents, that their hearts would soften towards their son and that they would be open to hearing from him about Jesus.<\/span> Pray for the blessing and protection of <\/span>pastors and evangelists <\/span>in Vietnam. Pray that they would be continually encouraged and strengthened as they seek to spread the gospel and build up other believers.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
