\u201cSabina: Tortured for Christ, the Nazi Years\u201d<\/span> tells <\/span>the true story of Sabina <\/span>Wurmbrand<\/span> and her husband, Richard<\/span>, the co-founders of <\/span>the nonprofit The Voice of the Martyrs<\/span>, <\/span>an interdenominational missions organization that serves persecuted Christians around the world. <\/span>Set <\/span>in Romania <\/span>at the time of <\/span>the <\/span>Nazi and Soviet occupations <\/span>surrounding <\/span>the Second <\/span>World War, the film <\/span>chronicles Sabina\u2019s transformation from a hedonistic atheist Jew to a Christian who meets and <\/span>ultimately <\/span>forgives <\/span>one of the German soldiers responsible for the death of her entire family at a concentration camp. <\/span>The experience <\/span>leads her to join her husband in risking their lives to lead their enemies to Christ, and to serve the Christians who are persecuted at their enemies\u2019 hands.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“Making a period piece like ‘Sabina’ was a delightful artistic challenge \u2013 recreating what Romania looked like in the 1930’s and 40’s down to every fine detail like fashion, automobiles and storefronts,” sa<\/span>ys<\/span> the movie\u2019s d<\/span>irector<\/span>,<\/span> John Grooters. “But even more substantially, I find Sabina <\/span>Wurmbrand<\/span> to be one of the greatest women of the 20th century, and it’s a joy getting to introduce her to modern audiences.”<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The movie <\/span>is a prequel to The Voice of the Martyrs’ <\/span>2018 <\/span>award-winning <\/span>film, <\/span>“Tortured for Christ<\/span>\u201d,<\/span> which <\/span>tells the true story of <\/span>Sabina’s husband Richard <\/span>Wurmbrand<\/span> as he endured 14 years of prison and torture while <\/span>continuing to practice and share his faith<\/span>.<\/span> More than <\/span>30<\/span>,000 viewers watched the Tortured<\/span> for Christ movie in special free online showings offered by Voice of the Martyrs Korea last year. Representative Foley says she is <\/span>hoping for <\/span>an equally strong response to the free online showing of the Sabina movie during Holy Week.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Both the <\/span>Sabina<\/span> movie and the Tortured for Christ movie are <\/span>truly amazing<\/span> movies, but in some ways Sabina\u2019s story is even more powerful because all of us have the experience of struggling to forgive people in life who have really hurt us,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cNot everyone will go to prison for their faith for 14 years like Pastor <\/span>Wurmbrand<\/span> did, but all of us will face <\/span>the challenge of living out Christ\u2019s radical call to love and forgive our enemies.
