\u201c<\/span>Pastor Yang had\u00a0<\/span>planned to visit Christians in Qingdao<\/span>\u00a0on May 24<\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201c<\/span>Authorities told him he was not permitted to\u00a0<\/span>leave\u00a0<\/span>Guiyang City<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>until July 1.\u00a0<\/span>When l<\/span>ocal police\u00a0<\/span>were unable to dissuade him from his\u00a0<\/span>travel plans<\/span>, they\u00a0<\/span>reportedly\u00a0<\/span>seized and transported him to\u00a0<\/span>Zhongshan East Road Police Station under Yunyan District, Guiyang City\u2019s Public Security Bureau<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>at around 11PM on May 23<\/span>. While officers detained Pastor Yang in their station,\u00a0<\/span>sources say that\u00a0<\/span>the secretary\u00a0<\/span>of the Guiyang Yunyan District Party Committee punched and so severely injured him that an official phoned 120<\/span>, the emergency\u00a0<\/span>phone number in China<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Dispatched medical personnel then transported Pastor Yang to the hospital ER.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Representative Foley says that sources told Voice of the Martyrs Korea that\u00a0three other local authorities witnessed the attack.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cApparently\u00a0officials\u00a0ordered\u00a0Pastor Yang not to go to Qingdao and\u00a0told him\u00a0that\u00a0the money for his plane ticket would be refunded to him,\u201d said Representative Foley.\u00a0\u201cPastor Yang\u00a0insisted that he wanted to go, which sources say prompted the secretary to\u00a0knock him\u00a0down.\u00a0The secretary\u00a0then\u00a0reportedly\u00a0yelled,\u00a0\u2018Believe it or not, I can beat you to death.\u2019 But when Pastor Yang stood back up, he said, \u2018Whatever you want to do is fine.\u00a0I will not fight back.\u2019\u00a0Our sources tell us that the secretary\u00a0then\u00a0began to choke Pastor Yang by the neck and then slap him\u00a0on his left cheek with enough force to impair his hearing. He then\u00a0stormed\u00a0away\u00a0from the scene.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”36925″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_custom_heading text=”Pastor Yang Hua of Living Stone Church in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province was detained and beaten while preparing to visit Christians in Qingdao” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:13px|text_align:center|color:%230a0a0a|line_height:1.45em” google_fonts=”font_family:Noto%20Sans%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]After EMS personnel transported Pastor Yang by ambulance to Guizhou Provincial Emergency Hospital, he logged a complaint with the Yunyan District\u2019s Police Supervision Department, according to Representative Foley.\u00a0\u201cThe attack not only left scars on Pastor Yang’s ear and neck areas, but he\u00a0is reportedly\u00a0also experiencing\u00a0tinnitus and force-induced, physical complications. Doctors are continuing to observe him and treat him,\u201d says Representative Foley.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2009, more than 500 Christians originally established Guiyang Living Stone Church. Six years later in 2015, Guiyang City government officials forcibly shut down the building where the Christians worshipped. In early 2016, CCP authorities seized the church\u2019s property and sold it to a commercial group for\u00a0approximately\u00a05,000,000 yuan,\u00a0a price much lower than its actual assessed value.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At that time, CCP officials seized Pastor Yang,\u00a0formerly known as\u00a0Li Guozhi, and\u00a0falsely charged him with\u00a0\u201cdeliberately divulging state secrets,\u201d\u00a0sentencing\u00a0him to 2.5 years in prison.\u00a0Authorities released\u00a0him\u00a0on\u00a0June 19, 2018, after he\u00a0had\u00a0served the full term of his sentence. During Pastor Yang\u2019s imprisonment, Wang Hongwu, his wife, publicly proclaimed that neither the CCP\u2019s persecutions \u201cnor attacks will shake my husband\u2019s faith.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAfter his release,\u00a0police\u00a0have\u00a0kept\u00a0Pastor Yang\u00a0under\u00a0surveillance,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cOur sources\u00a0say that\u00a0local police intensify their surveillance on Pastor Yang on\u00a0\u2018sensitive\u2019\u00a0days\u00a0or whenever potential disturbances\u00a0or troubles\u00a0emerge. During those times, authorities have forced Pastor Yang to travel away from the area,\u00a0or\u00a0they have held\u00a0him under house arrest.\u00a0It is reportedly not unusual for\u00a020 CCP officers\u00a0to\u00a0watch his place and guard his door.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Representative Foley says that during late August in 2018, Pastor Wang Yi traveled to Guiyang to visit Pastor Yang.\u00a0\u201cAs they met, they encouraged each other to\u00a0\u2018hold fast to the faith.\u2019\u00a0Three months later, CCP authorities arrested Pastor Wang and imprisoned him.Yet after several years and many beatings and imprisonments, these pastors continue their vow to each other to \u2018hold fast to the faith.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
