According to Representative\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Dr.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Hyun Sook Foley, the ministry<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>has joined\u00a0<\/span><\/span>an international coalition of ministries\u00a0<\/span><\/span>committed to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>an emergency distribution of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>100,000 children\u2019s New Testaments throughout Eastern Ukraine<\/span><\/span>\u00a0as soon as possible<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>Too often we Christians have a wrong thinking that Bible distribution must wait or be postponed until a conflict or war is over, as if political peace\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is necessary to first\u00a0<\/span><\/span>make an area \u2018safe\u2019 for the Bible,\u201d says Representative Foley. \u201cIn truth,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the Word of God is always our only hope for true peace, and it is God\u2019s word that makes an area \u2018safe\u2019 for peace<\/span><\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Representative Foley says that Voice of the Martyrs Korea sees Bible distribution in major zones of conflict as one of the ministry\u2019s core competencies and most important\u00a0<\/span><\/span>responsibilities<\/span><\/span>. \u201cVoice of the Martyrs\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Korea\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is not a mission organization but instead a partner with\u00a0<\/span><\/span>local\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Christians\u00a0<\/span><\/span>living under persecution or pressure<\/span><\/span>,\u201d says Representative Foley<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span>Any<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>time\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a major conflict threatens an area, that\u2019s when people\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in that area\u00a0<\/span><\/span>instinctively turn to God and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>become open to the Bible.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>They\u2019re<\/span><\/span>\u00a0looking for hope.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Sometimes missionary organizations evacuate their personnel in such times<\/span><\/span>, or they urge their missionaries to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0be<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>cautious<\/span><\/span>. But local Christians have nowhere to go<\/span><\/span>, nowhere to hide<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>They still\u00a0<\/span><\/span>have to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0go to work and to the market and to church.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>God then seems to give these ordinary local Christians a special boldness\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to preach the gospel and share the Bible<\/span><\/span>\u00a0with their neighbors.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Representative Foley says that the present situation in Eastern Ukraine is one such opportunity. \u201cSince fighting broke out in 2014,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>evangelical\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Christians in the area have faced\u00a0<\/span><\/span>sporadic raids, arrests, worship bans, seizure of church property,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>kidnappings of pastors<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>That means that for children\u00a0<\/span><\/span>who are\u00a0<\/span><\/span>elementary school\u00a0<\/span><\/span>age or\u00a0<\/span><\/span>younger, all they have known\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in their lives is fear and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>conflict.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>T<\/span><\/span>his month\u00a0<\/span><\/span>that\u00a0<\/span><\/span>international tension\u00a0<\/span><\/span>reached\u00a0<\/span><\/span>its worst level<\/span><\/span>s since 2014. We believe that<\/span><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in the words of the prophet Isaiah, these kids have \u2018<\/span><\/span>studied war<\/span><\/span>\u2019 long enough. It\u2019s time for them to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>be able to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>study Jesus.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Representative Foley says that the emergency Bible distribution project has set the goal of distributing 100,000 \u201cAction Bible\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>New Testaments to children in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions\u00a0<\/span><\/span>through a coalition including Voice of the Martyrs Canada, Mission Eurasia, and School Without Walls.
