Wurmbrand was imprisoned beginning in 1948<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Based on the best-selling book of the same name, <\/span>Tortured for Christ<\/span><\/i> is the story of Richard Wurmbrand, a Romanian pastor who spent fourteen years in prison for his faith during the time of communist occupation. The movie was filmed on location with an all-Romanian cast at <\/span>Jilava<\/span> Prison, where Rev. Wurmbrand was imprisoned beginning in 1948.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Often, movie producers choose a large, comfortable theatre for their movie premiers,” Voice of the Martyrs Korea representative Hyun Sook Foley explains<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>but we felt our \u2018underground\u2019 basement-level event hall in <\/span><\/span>Jeongneung<\/span><\/span> is truer to the experience of persecuted Christians around the world today. Our office is not big or fancy, but every wall reminds visitors of Christians who are imprisoned for their faith.<\/span><\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cIt was beautiful to see people worshipping God in the midst of <\/span><\/span>pesecution<\/span><\/span>,” one audience member reported<\/span><\/span>.
\n\u201cYou can’t see this kind of movie anywhere else,” another added.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis was the first time I heard Pastor <\/span><\/span>Wurmbrand’s<\/span><\/span> story,” one audience member said. “It made me rethink what it means to be Christian, and I hope other people can watch the movie and do the same<\/span><\/span>.
\n\u201cI think it would be great if many people watched this movie,” another audience member commented.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The event hall, which holds around 150, was filled to capacity for the March 18 movie premiere. Most were visiting Voice of the Martyrs for the first time.<\/span>
